True Friends

This is a clip from a never-completed animated film. I animated the girl (Victoria) as well as the animals in this scene. I also did clean-up and coloring for all characters in this scene. This was animated digitally, using ToonBoom Studio software and a WACOM tablet.

The Conqueror Worm

This is an adaptation of the poem of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe. I animated the hand-drawn images in After Effects. This film won "Best Of" honors at BYU Final Cut (Student Film Festival) and the LDS Film Festival. It was also featured in the Port City Animation Festival and the Hollywood Independent Student Film Festival.
The original poem is featured below the film.

Lo! 'tis a gala night
Within the lonesome latter years!
An angel throng, bewinged, bedight
In veils, and drowned in tears,
Sit in a theatre, to see
A play of hopes and fears,
While the orchestra breathes fitfully
The music of the spheres.

Mimes, in the form of God on high,
Mutter and mumble low,
And hither and thither fly-
Mere puppets they, who come and go
At bidding of vast formless things
That shift the scenery to and fro,
Flapping from out their Condor wings
Invisible Woe!

That motley drama- oh, be sure
It shall not be forgot!
With its Phantom chased for evermore,
By a crowd that seize it not,
Through a circle that ever returneth in
To the self-same spot,
And much of Madness, and more of Sin,
And Horror the soul of the plot.

But see, amid the mimic rout
A crawling shape intrude!
A blood-red thing that writhes from out
The scenic solitude!
It writhes!- it writhes!- with mortal pangs
The mimes become its food,
And seraphs sob at vermin fangs
In human gore imbued.

Out- out are the lights- out all!
And, over each quivering form,
The curtain, a funeral pall,
Comes down with the rush of a storm,
While the angels, all pallid and wan,
Uprising, unveiling, affirm
That the play is the tragedy, "Man,"
And its hero the Conqueror Worm.

Wampa

The following short film won the "Best Animation Award" in the 2004 Atomfilms "Star Wars Fan Film Awards." The animation was hand-drawn, then colored and composited digitally in After Effects and Premiere.

Headless

This is a short film I made as an entry to an Adult Swim "Show Us Your Shorts" animation contest. Although I went for a macabre, silly story, I guess it wasn't edgy enough to sway the voters. Anyway, I enjoyed making it. I drew the images by hand, then scanned them into Photoshop for the color. It was animated in Adobe After Effects.

About Me

I'm an animator. That's about it.
